Who We Are
Who We Are
Dave Pelton
President of Trust for the Future
Dave Established the first successful Clean Cities organization in Tennessee. With the help of dozens of stakeholders, he brought alternative fuel awareness to the general public. Some projects include bringing the first public ethanol pump to Tennessee, helping Nashville Metro Transit and Franklin Transit use Biodiesel, and producing the short film Demanding Choice to help policy makers and consumers understand the importance of bio-fuels in our nation's future. He is a regular guest lecturer on energy policy at colleges, universities and secondary schools.
Jeff Barrie
Vice President/Project Director for Kilowatt Ours
Jeff wrote, filmed and edited Kilowatt Ours: A Plan to Re-Energize America. The film highlights the importance of knowing where our electricity comes from and how we can improve our environmental impact. Mr. Barrie also oversees the national campaign to "Re-Energize America" through understanding ways consumers, corporations and governments can reduce energy consumption and increase renewable energy use.
Charles Howell, III
Founder of Trust for the Future
Charlie Howell established Trust for the Future in 1986 after serving as Commissioner of Conservation under Governor Lamar Alexander. Mr. Howell also served middle Tennessee as member of the Tennessee House of Representatives. His vision to bring common sense solutions to environmental and energy issues still drives the organization today. Mr. Howell was the driving force behind the state of Tennessee establishing June 29th as "Descendants' Day." He helped the building industry self regulate in several important areas including where to (and not to) use certain materials like pressure treated wood and harsh chemical stain blocking agents on carpets.
